In Holland we are located in Schijndel, near the town of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Here we keep what probably is the largest single stock in Alaskan Sitka Spruce found in Europe. The sawn and dried spruce flitch is stored here in lengths up to 12 metre (40ft). Upon arrival from Alaska the flitch is resorted and re-stickered for further air drying. We have built a unique rip and crosscut line which allows us to rip in pre-planed 12 metre long flitch, this gives us the advantage of accurate observation of the grain pattern and colour which hs proven to be essential for all typical Sitka spruce applications such as Aircraft spars, sounding board stock and yacht spars. Located on the premises of Houtindustrie Schijndel (www.hisbv.biz
) gives us access to state of the art drying, resawing, planing and moulding lines. Here we remanufacture and this is where the final grades are determined for sounding board stock for musical instruments such as pianos and guitars, spars and ribs for aircraft construction and of course, yacht spars.
