Boeing Stearman

The Boeing Stearman is one of the beloved classics of the aviation world. Designed by the Stearman Company which was acquired by Boeing in 1934, the aircraft served as the main primary trainer for the US Army Air Corps throughout World War II. The Stearman is built in a classic construction using wooden wings and a welded steel tube fuselage. Touchwood regularly delivers lumber for Stearman wing reconstructions.

The spars of the Stearman wing are made of single piece wooden planks. This feature greatly simplified manufacture and reduced cost and production time.
